Why Diving Indonesia?

What I Need in Indonesia?
Certainly a good camera is a must for your visit to Bali and will be better if you can bring an extra memory card.
A sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and a flashlight should be part of your luggage.
A mosquito repellent is a good choice to combat these annoying small animals. Remember you are coming to the tropical island.
Diving Equipment that I can Rent or Buy?
In Indonesia you can move from areas with all the tourism service to the most isolated places in just one hour, so we suggest that you rent or buy your equipment in Bali.
Both Kuta and Sanur count with all types of services.
Planet Nomadas has its base in Sanur with a dive shop where you can rent or buy all that you need for your trip !
Vaccines?
As with any trip abroad, and especially to tropical islands,we strongly recommend you to contact the International vaccination service from your country and detail the route that you will follow. The variety of islands in Indonesia make this type of response varied from one place to another. For example, in Bali dengue are uncommon, but if you want to visit more remote areas this conditions are likely to change.
Security?
Indonesia's strict laws have keep the place secure, but; it's best not to forget anything. But one of Indonesia plus point is to highlight the honesty of its people, especially in areas with little contact with tourism.

ATM’s and money changer?
The local currency is the Indonesian rupiah. The currency exchange is not too complicated, especially in euros and dollars, which you can change your money easily on; Money changer.

Exchange houses are a normal trade, especially in tourist areas.
ATM’s and shop where you can use your Visa or Mastercard are common, depends on the area of Indonesia where you would like to visit. In Bali you will find no difficulty to find this stuff in more populated area or tourism centre but in remote villages and islands, it would be a little harder to locate ATM or shop that will receive your Credit Card, so cash will be a nice option to be prepared also.

Health Services?
Health services in Indonesia will depend on where you are. For example, Komodo Island is a distant location and has a limited medical services. But in Bali you will find hospitals that meet European standards. Many hotels in Bali also have medical service.
But still do not forget that you are in a foreign country and you may not find certain medicaments but; you can probably find others with the same characteristics.
In the areas of Sanur, Kuta, and Denpasar you can find a large number of pharmacies and medical services.
Hyperbaric Chamber?
Providing that you dive within the limits it is extremely unlikely that you will need any treatment for decompression injuries. Listen carefully to all dive briefings and follow the advice of dive centre staff and employees to ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable holiday.
Remember too that you are individually responsible for your own health and safety so please do not take unnecessary risks by diving under the effects of alcohol, drugs, tiredness, ill health, dehydration and certain prescription medicines. If you have any doubts or questions about your fitness to dive then discuss these with the Instructors or staff at the dive center.
If you feel unwell after diving contact your dive centre and discuss your condition with them. They may advise further consultation with a doctor or hospital. Most resort areas have doctors with hyperbaric training and there are a number of chambers across the country. Hospital care in the cities is of international standard.
We must stress again that the number of divers requiring treatment is a tiny percentage of those participating in the sport. This treatment can be found in Denpasar, capital of Bali.
Visa?
At the airport you will received a TOURIST visa valid for 30 days and can be extended for one time for 30 days and this type of visa applied for 63 affiliates country. For longer trips you should contact the Indonesian embassy in your country of origin.
Nightlife?
Nightlife in Indonesia will depend on the area where you are. Some of the famous area is: in Kuta area where you can find young people from all nationalities danced until dawn. Considered this place one of the wildest hot spots for party in Asia.
In Sanur you can also find some movement but nothing like Kuta.
In Gili islands because of the affluent of young people, this place have become one of the most common nightlife areas in the country. Not far from Bali, many people have choose to visit it.
Driving in Indonesia?
INTERNATIONAL LICENSE IS MANDATORY. YOUR NATIONAL LICENSE IS NOT VALID. IT IS EASY TO GET INTERNATIONAL LICENSE, ASK IN YOUR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN.
PLEASE; REMEMBER THAT IN HERE PEOPLE DRIVE BY THE LEFT SIDE.
Food?
The food in Indonesia is rich in vegetables and spices, as the main component of food is rice like most of the Asia. They also make delicious peanut sauce. Soya andits derivativesis widely used as the food component.
Among the common dishes are:
- Nasi goreng (fried rice with meat, fish or vegetables)
- Gado-gado (tofu, vegetables, peanut sauce with fish or meat) the variety of these dish depends on where you ask due in each place is cooked differently
- Chicken Satay. Skewer of chicken with delicious peanut sauce which is normally accompanied by rice.
All cuisine is accompanied with spicy taste. Indonesian chef always recommend you to specify the level of spice when ordering your meal to the amount that you wish.
Foreign cuisine is easy to find in Indonesia, especially Bali in highlight areas of tourism such as restaurants in Kuta and Sanur where European and Japanese are just one little example from the huge variety that you can find.

Shopping in Indonesia?
Due the Indonesia geographic conditions that many islands that form this country, you can found a great variety of craft products on great prices if you know where to look.
In Bali you can find everything that your heart desire, from the incredible crafts in Ubud to globally recognized brand item in Kuta.
Please advised the origin of wooden item/furniture before buying it. The forests of this country are being decimated by uncontrolled logging effect in damaging this unique ecosystem in the world.
Please do not buy exotic animals in Indonesia. Since unknowingly misled, some travellers has arrived to buy endangered species. Keep in mind that the sale and purchase of these animals is illegal and are pursued by the law throughout the world.
Finally it is advisable not to buy shells and corals.
You still can make thousands of purchases in Indonesia without harming the planet and helping the growth of local economy.
